SUPPORT WAI Scholarship

Thank you for your interest in the Support WAI scholarship!

We're excited to announce that applications are now open for the new $2500 "SUPPORT WAI" Scholarship thanks to a generous donation from Support Air Group! This opportunity is available for flight or AMT training and is open to current members of both WAI International and the WAI Washington State Chapter. Scholarship funds will be paid directly to an accredited institution—this includes colleges, universities, Part 147 AMT schools, or Part 141/61 flight schools. DEADLINE is June 1.

Scholarship Requirements

This scholarship is open to ages 15 and older.

Applicants must:

- Be a WAI and WAI Washington State chapter member

- Be pursuing a pilot certification (Private, Instrument, Commercial, Multi, ATP) or working toward an Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) certification

- Have a school determined for the scholarship award

- Include two Letters of Recommendation (no family members; one letter must be from someone the applicant has flown with (pilot) or worked with (AMT))

- If applying for a pilot scholarship, applicants must provide copies of any current aviation and medical certificates

- Submit an essay, with a minimum of 500 words (details below)

In addition to the above, applicants may choose to include a professional resume.

Scholarship Essay Requirements

Scholarship essays must be at least 500 words and include the following:

• applicant’s name and contact information

• their history with aviation

• their participation (if any) with WAI Washington State and / or WAI International

• financial need

• aviation career goals

• the school, college, university, Part 147 school, Part 141 or Part 61 flight school where WAI Washington State will have the funds delivered

Scholarship FAQs

- Scholarship funds are paid directly to the school, college, university, Part 147 school, Part 141 or Part 61 flight school identified in the applicant’s essay.

- Funds may be used for schooling, flight lessons, and textbooks only.
